Charles Frederick Cheffins (1807-1861) was a British mechanical draughtsman, cartographer, consulting engineer, and surveyor, known for his drawings of locomotive engines, cartographic work, and as a surveyor for numerous railroad projects. He was an assistant to John Ericsson and George Stephenson, and surveyed for many British railroad companies in the mid-19th century. Cheffins prepared many of the designs for the construction of the bridges on the London and Birmingham Railway and from 1830, Cheffins started making lithographs, which were published in magazines.
Wolverton Viaduct is a railway bridge carrying the West Coast Main Line over the River Great Ouse to the north of Wolverton, part of the City of Milton Keynes. Built under the supervision of Robert Stephenson in 1837 for the London and Birmingham Railway, it is one of the largest and most notable structures on the route and is a grade II listed building.
