The First Tiburtine Hall illustrates the story of legendary three Greek brothers, Tiburtus, Coras, and Catillus, who defeated the Sicels, an Italic tribe, and built a new city, Tibur (now Tivoli), Their battle illustrated in the central fresco of the ceiling. Painted by a team of painters led by Cesare Nebia, before 1569. The Villa was commissioned by Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este (1509–1572).
