Federal State of Salzburg, Austria The picture shows Burg Mauterndorf, which was first mentioned in documents in 1253. In 1894 the castle was bought by Hermann von Epenstein, the godfather of Hermann Goering, and saved from decay. Goering and his family were often there and after Epenstein's death, the castle was transferred to him. Today here is located the Lungau Landscape Museum and a catering business. In the foreground of the picture are sheep in the pasture.
