Munich, Bavaria, Germany In 1951, many balloons, filled with leaflets, were launched in the direction of Czechoslovakia by the American radio station Radio Free Europe which broadcast in the countries of the former Eastern Bloc. On the leaflets were printed counter statement on communist reporting and the broadcasting times of the radio station. They probably drove from the station in Munich,to the border and let the balloons rise there. In the middle of the picture with balloon, the columnist Drew Pearson.
