John Manangsang, a medical doctor working in Indonesia's remote Papua, feeds rare birds he has treated after they were shot by poachers involved in a growing illegal trade in Sentani, Papua province August 27, 2003. Manangsang, who has built an aviary next to his surgery, wants to set up a bird sanctuary in a nature reserve not far from his home to help the birds, among a number of protected species being threatened by illegal smuggling.
