ETHNIC MINORITY HILL TRIBE REFUGEES BEGIN THE JOURNEY TO THE UNITED STATES, 2002-04-13 (photo)

A group of ethnic minority hill tribe refugees arrives by bus at a United Nations reception centre in Phnom Penh April 13, 2002, on their first leg of a journey to resettle them in the United States. Over 1,000 hill tribe refugees fled to Cambodia in the past year from Vietnam's Central Highlands after Hanoi sent troops to quell their protests for land rights and religious. The U.S. recently agreed to resettle all 905 of the refugees still sheltering in United Nations refugees camps in northeastern Cambodia.
