A half-length portrait, half turned to his right, gazing to the left. Formal dress, red coat with gold embroidery on lapels, and gold buttons. Black cravat and undershirt, lace frill. Natural hair worn long, tied at back with black ribbon. Ref Number '242' in gilt at lower left of canvas, and '253' at lower right of frame. He remodelled Blickling in Jacobean style and built the Orangery. The signed original of this portrait, of 1766, is at Melbourne Hall, Derbyshire. Blickling Hall, Norfolk (Accredited Museum)
