Pocket celestial and terrestrial globes. The details on the globe show the traces of the winds, North America is marked 'Unknown Part' and California is represented as an island, Australia is represented after Dutch discoveries and marked 'New Holland', Dampier's explorations are denoted 'N.Britain', and in China, the Great Wall is legendary 'Ch.Walll' , 'The Dominion of Moscovy' and 'Parts Unknown'. Nine oceans are named. Astronomical details appear inside the globe case, a geocentric projection, with the symbolic representation of the constellations, without a magnitude table, shows the Milky Way and the 48 Ptolemaic and 4 non-Ptolemaic constellations, and those of Plancius and Hevelius. Globe made of paper-mache, plaster and wood, and various materials, made in 1731 by Richard Cushee (1696-1732).
