A giant Leatherback turtle is measured as she lays her eggs April 10, 2002 in Plaplaya, Honduras. The Leatherback, an endangered species, is in heavy decline due to years of poaching. Private organizations such as Mopowi, a group dedicated to the development of the Moskitia region, have trained local volunteers to collect the eggs so they may be placed in a protective nursery.
