Rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) leave the village of Toribio, in the province of Cauca, after a gunfight with police, July 12, 2002. In the attack, 14 Colombian police officers, who had surrendered after running out of bullets in a 20-hour gun battle with leftist rebels, were freed on Friday by the guerrillas for their brave last stand. The officers emerged from the rubble and surrendered to the rebels in the town of Toribio.
