Die Reichskrone; probably made for the coronation by Pope John XII in 962 AD of Otto the Great (912-73), 1st Holy Roman Emperor (962-73); later identified as the Crown of Charlemagne (742-814); eight hinged enamelled and jewelled plates form the octagonal body of the imperial crown; now held in Vienna at the Hofburg; from a series of illustrations of famous royal crowns published by the cigarette manufacturer, Godfrey Phillips, to coincide with the public interest in royalty and regalia after the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1937;
