Coronation of King Haakon, 1906. Haakon VII, of Norway was crowned on 22 June 1906, in Trondhjem Cathedral. The king, clothed in the royal vestment, knelt before the throne, when the crown was put upon his head by the Bishop of Trondhjem and in his hands were placed the sceptre and orb. The actual moment of crowning was signalized by a fanfare of trumpets, a salvo of artillery was fired by the batteries outside, and royal salute by the warships in the harbour.
