On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "On left the S aspect of the old Market Inn. Main entrance, (fine Adams period doorway,) in other routes of this series. Next, in late years, Bridson's; a fish dealer, and a belated type of the Manx of an earlier generation. Then Cain's quaint old baker's shop with the style of window one sees in engravings of London streets when George the Third was King. According to an advertisment in the Advertising Circular (20.01.1859) *Robert Cain takes over the business carried on by his father for the past 20 years - 1839 - and it has been in the same family until this year (1934) when the place was taken down."
