On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "1930-31. T W Kelly, Seedsman on extreme R - premises just showing. There was a card tacked on the door of the old 'toffee shop' (on R with wheel in window to block entrance) Cain's in my boyhood, on which was written 'To obtain entrance, don't use the window, ask for key, first door across the lane.' There was perhaps a reaping machine inside, but nothing otherwise worth lifting. And later, someone added, in quite a scholarly hand, in pencil, but irrellivantly: 'It takes a woman twenty years to make a man of her son; and it only takes another woman ten minutes to make an utter fool of him.'
