On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "The wall of the coalyard in New Bond St., incorporating a section of the ground floor wall of the old Ramsey Inn No.8. Yes. The blocked up door & window clear in photo and surrounding wall as I remembered it painted a dull red. Passing through here 17.9.32 in the evening I saw this relic of the old pub - or rather noted it: have seen it often enough. The eye can discern above the door the faint capitals RAM but they don't come out in the photo selochrome film, but light none too good in rear, top floor of the large house in Crown St., top of rise on L. from Smagg's house. Crown St. in 1834 extended front including that house & those on other side down to Fort St. and at that time S. Barnabas' Sq. was Moore's Place. Earlier. The coalyard has been there longer than that. Inn demolished prior to decease of Mr Qualtrough Laureston - then owner. - No, he was not."
