The full-length original, of which this is a reduced version copy was exhibited at RA in 1777 and is now in the National Gallery of Scotland and there is also another half-length of the same sitter, with a different arrangemnt of hands, in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, possibly painted earler in about 1775.
