This is a view of the Experience Music Project (EMP) as looking from the Space Needle on opening day in Seattle, June 23. Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Paul Allen, who is the primary financial backer of the $240 million high-tech museum in downtown Seattle is a Jimi Hendrix fan and says that his love of music and the electric guitar spurned him on to create EMP. Allen worked with reknown Toronto architect Frank Gehry for three years before opening the museum today. More than sixty bands such as Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Brown, Snoop Dogg and Patti Smith are some of the bands performing during the three-day grand opening of the EMP. apb/Photo by Anthony P.
