Image description: Lieutenant General von Wundt at the feet of a writer, possibly Georg Hirschfeld (1873-1942) a proponent of the literary Naturalism movement. Von Wundt holds copies of his most recent books Discipline and Matterhorn. Inscribed: ‘Here is the General, the flags fluttering about him. He knows how to live! What does he need with unreliable literature? G. Hirschfeld' Commissioned by Lieutenant General Theodor von Wundt (1868-1929), Commander of the Wurttemberger 51 Reserve Infantry Brigade, while serving on the Somme between September 1914 and October 1916.
