DAVID RUBINGER WINS ISRAEL PRIZE FOR PHOTOJOURNALISM, 1997-02-06 (photo)

File photo from February 6, 1997 of Israeli photojournalist David Rubinger, 72, who it was announced March 25 is one of the winners of the prestigious Israel Prize. The prize honors Rubinger's lifelong contribution and achievements in the field of journalism and will be awarded on Israel's Independence Day, May 12. Rubinger began his photojournalist career after his discharge from the British army after World War II in 1946. He began working with Time Magazine, the United State weekly news magazine, when he had his first pictures published in 1954. He has been a contract photographer for Time since 1971 and has covered all of Israel's wars and conflicts as well as the country's inception in 1948. ISRAEL RUBINGER
