Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler (1884-1979) was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1884. He opened an art gallery in Paris in 1907 and became known as an art collector and one of the most notable French art dealers of his time. He was an important supporter of the Cubist art movement who recognized the importance of Pablo Picasso's work early on and published a book in 1920 that further influenced the thinking about modern art. Kahnweiler died in Paris in 1979. (Marc field 094)
