Image description

Creator: Yu Jun Over 100 meteors were captured in the composed image taken on the peak night of the 2015 Geminid meteor shower. The brightest bolide (an exceptionally bright meteor) instantly lit up the landscape. "As well as illustrating the position of the Geminids' radiant superbly, this great composition has a wonderful sense of motion. If you've ever sat out and watched this meteor shower at its peak on a clear night, you'll know what a remarkable show it can be. This image really captures some of that magic" Will Gater Born digital photograph entitled 'Geminids over LAMOST telescope' taken by Yu Jun on the 14th December 2015 in Xinglong, Hebei Province, China. Captured with a Canon EOS 6D camera, EF 24m, f/1.4L II USM lens, ISO 12800, multiple 8 - second exposures Highly Commended in Skyscapes category in Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2016
