Dolores Olmedo, patron and close friend of Mexican muralist Diego Rivera shows off a volume of Frida Kahlo's diary during an interview in her home in southern Mexico City June 29, 2001. Olmedo, now in her nineties, is the keeper of the largest Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo collections in the world after and wants to keep shaping how history remembers them. Rivera passed on his collection to his greatest patron at his death and asked Olmedo, who first met the artist when she posed nude for him at the age of 12, to purchase 25 Frida Kahlo paintings with a view to setting up a museum. Olmedo maintains a monopoly control over the vast majority of Rivera and Kahlo's legacies, attracting criticism and respect from the art world.
