Creator: Knell, William Adolphus [artist]; Hunt, Charles [engraver]; Rudolph Ackermann [publishers] Starboard view of two-masted paddle steamer Geyser, under steam but also with foresail hoisted. A British ensign is flying from the mizzen mast gaff, while three signal flags are hoisted on the main mast. Two guns starboard can be seen on deck as can a small tender hoisted on the davitts. A small sailing vessel with just its top sails hoisted is visible just off the port bow. A four-man cutter, with two naval officers and a cox is going in the opposite direction in the foreground. The coast is clearly visible with a large house, which appears to be Mount Edgecombe, looking out over the Plymouth Sound. The Knell family included a number of marine artists: John Henry Knell, William Callcott Knell, Adolphus Knell and William Adolphus Knell to who this print is attributed.
