The Murder of Muhammad Ghori, AD 1205. The great Muhammad Ghori, the conqueror of Northern India and first Sultan of Delhi, when journeying to Ghazni from Lahore had pitched his tent "on the bank of a pure stream in a garden filled with lilies and jasmines." He was at his evening prayers, when some fanatical Muhammadan sectaries rushed up "like the wind towards His Majesty," and killed him and his attendants.
