E.1984.32.2 DECORATIVE ART stencil Mackintosh, Charles Rennie (designer); Guthrie & Wells (maker) Scotland, Helensburgh, The Hill House (place associated); Scotland, Glasgow (place made) 1904 Glasgow Style card, paint overall: 240 mm x 240 mm Stencil card for a decorative scheme for a spare bedroom at The Hill House, Helensburgh. Brown card, square format, with traces of light grey/brown and grey/mauve paint. Cut-out areas are of a stylised flower with chequerboard stem and head, surrounded by a border of equally small squares, these shapes are edged with paint from execution. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh about 1904, made and executed by Guthrie & Wells, 1904. Card E.1984.32.3 is a partner stencil for the one decorative scheme.
