A FIRE EXTINGUISHE HELICOPTER DURING A DEMONSTRATION IN BLARICUM, 1998-10-26 (photo)

A fire extinguish helicopter, equipped with a double barreled impulse extinguisher canon, is demonstrated at a disaster training area in Blaricum Netherlands October 26. Each canon holds 155 liters of extinguisher of which the helicopter uses 18 liters a shot in 200 milliseconds, giving it the same extinguish effect as 3000 liters of water used in the old fashion way. The Helicopter, which will be stationed at Amsterdam Schiphol airport next year in a try out fase, will be used in the fight against fires in high buildings and is hoped to reduce health risk for firemen, excessive water damage and the available amount of water necessary.
