AN EMPLOYEE SHOWS FRAGMENTS OF A LOST GOSPEL IN BERLIN, 1997-03-13 (photo)

William Brashear, director of world's largest collection of papyrus documents shows a Christian text written on parchment in Coptic, an ancient Egyptian language that uses Greek letters dating to the 5th or 6th century A.D. in Berlin, March 13. The fragment was identified by American professors Paul Mirecki and Charles Hedrick as a "lost gospel" that contains conversations between Jesus Christ and his disciples. Mirecki said that apart from the New Testament's four gospels, scholars recognise approximately six other lost gospels that detail Christ's teachings. The gospel of Thomas, discoverd in Egypt in 1945, was the last such text to be identified. GERMANY GOSPEL
