Image description

In January 2010, Bernardo and Chaska were the first Andean, or spectacled, bear cubs born at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in 22 years and the only surviving Andean cubs in a North American zoo since 2005. Andean bears are native to the Andes mountain range and outlying mountain ranges.
