Image description

An Andean baby condor chick, named Che, nuzzles up to a latex puppet that represents an adult to prevent the bird from becoming imprinted on humans at the Buenos Aires Zoo, May 24. The egg from which the chick was born came from Cuba. In 1972, then Chilean President Salvador Allende sent two condors as a gift to Cuban leader Fidel Castro. Chicks bred this way, are destined for liberation programs in their natural enviroment once their plumage is complete. EM
