EU PRESIDENT ROMANO PRODI SPEAKS TO COMMISSIONER FOR EXTERNAL RELATIONS CHRISTOPHER PATTEN AT A PRESS BRIEFING IN BEIJING. President of the European Comission Roman Prodi (L) shares a joke with Commissioner for External Relations Christoper Patten in Beijing's Great Hall of the People December 21. EU officials, in Beijing to seal China's entry to the World Trade Organisation, also prodded Beijing to ratify two international human rights covenents and raised concerns over Beijing's crackdown on the Falun Gong spiritual movement and democracy activists.
