Filipinos scramble to get a copy of the last edition of "The Manila Times", at its main office in Manila July 24. First published in 1898, the Manila Times announced its temporary closure amid an escalating battle between President Joseph Estrada and hard-hitting newspaper he had accused of wrecking his reputation and the country's among investors. Hours after the last issue hit the streets on Friday, its staff said they had received calls from their readers that police and unidentified men had seized thousands of copies of Times from news stands.
