1950s glasses and telephone. A young woman in typical fifties glasses and bows is talking on the telephone. Swedish on-piece plastic telephone created by Ericsson Company of Sweden and launched 1956. Because of its styling and its influence on future telephone design, the Ericofon is considered one of the most significant industrial designs of the 20th century. The idea was to incorporate the dial and handset into one single unit. To call, you lifted it up and dialed the number, and to end the call, you put the phone down. The model is also known as the Cobra telephone for its resemblance to a coiled snake, and is now a sought after antique. The year is 1958.
