Home decor of the 1950s. A young woman is standing beside the popular Butterfly chair, also known as a BKF chair or Hardoy chair. The chair has its nickname due to the design. For many people the chair is a symbol of the youth rebellion against a generation of parents that wanted their children to sit up straight. The chair was created by two argentinian architects Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, and spanish Antonio Bonet in the 1930s. It was named BKD but was considered hard to sell, probably because of its futuristic design. American Hans Knoll re introduced it 1947 and it became an international bestselling furniture.
