Crime scene workers stand outside the doorway of the house on Lange Street March 22, where a hostage standoff between police and suspected killer of four people, Joseph C. Palczynski ended with police shooting Palczynski dead March 21. Two of the hostages, Lynn Whitehead and Andy McCord, escaped through the single window to the right of the door, notified police, who then entered through the double windows on the left and shot Palczynski. The third hostage, 12 year old Bradley McCord, who was in another room during the shooting, was taken from the house safely by police. JG/MMR
