National Socialist propaganda shows Jews on their way to a labour camp in Lublin, taken in February 1941. The original text of National Socialist propaganda on the back of the picture reads: "Jews learn community service. In Lublin, if Jews somehow break the law, they are gathered together in a labour camp to spend their time in prison in a useful way. Here a detachment of Jews passes through the gate to camp." Already in 1940 the Jews of Lublin had been forcibly concentrated in the Jewish quarter, and in March 1941 the Jewish ghetto was established. One year later, 26,000 ghetto inhabitants were deported and murdered.
