Manned Space Flight, USA, Apollo 10 Apollo 10 Command Module, 1969. Engineers are examining the Command Module that is mated to the Service and Lunar Modules, all contained within a conical shroud in the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Centre, Cape Canaveral, Florida. This assembly was later mated to the Saturn V rocket and Apollo 10 was successfully launched in May 1969. Crewed by astronauts Thomas Stafford, John Young and Eugene Cernan, Apollo 10 successfully completed its lunar orbital mission as the dress rehearsal for the actual Apollo 11 landing, which took place two months later. ©SSPL/NASA
