Oct. 17, 1953 - German Doctor Tests Pirie's Heart Dr. Hans Reindell, a German doctor who is famous for his research into human endurance claims to be able to predict the event which will best suit an athlete and the time he will achieve if he reaches his potential. Gordon Pirie, the famous British runner, who is staying in Freiberg, Germany, with his German coach, Woldemar Gerschler, underwent tests by the doctor. After the tests Dr. Reindell said: “Pirie has the strongest heart I have ever found in a sportsman.” Keystone Photo Shows: Gordon Pirie seen as he underwent knees-bend test-when it was found that 20 knee bends had no adverse reaction on him.
