Sinclair Lewis. American writer and playwright. Born february 7 1885 - january 10 1951. He became the first writer from the United States to recieve the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is best known for his novels Main street, Babbitt, Arrowsmith, Elmer Gantry, Dodsworth and It Can't happen here.
