A 50 kilogram block of ice smashes as it falls on a block of granite weighing 200 kilograms, previously placed on the chest of Gamini Wasantha Kumara, in Colombo October 27. The Sri Lankan farmer was attempting to get into the Guinness Book of world records by having a total of 50 ice blocks dropped on him from a height 17 feet. Gamini's efforts were videotaped and will be sent to the judges of the Guiness Book of Records who will then decide whether he has broken the previous record. The world record is currently held by Japanese karate instructor Sensei Oyama who has had the same number of ice blocks weighing 50 kg dropped on him from a height of 15 feet. AL/PB
