A three-quarter length portrait of a young woman, seated on the left, gazing at the spectator, her brown hair dressed on top with tight ringlets, wearing a yellow dress with a yellow waistband with a large buckle and a red shawl draped over her right shoulder and spread across her lap, her left hand outstretched to support a young child seated on the edge of a green covered Empire sofa wearing a white dress and holding a doll wearing a red dress and a straw bonnet. The background on the right is covered with a green drape with gold fringe and from which hang gold tassels, and there is a distant view on the left with a far horizon and sky.
