British (English) School. Oil painting on canvas, John Lovelace, 2nd Baron Lovelace (1616-1670), British (English) School, circa 1670. A three-quarter-length portrait, turned to left, seated at a window, through which is seen a horse and groom. He wears a full wig, cravat and green cloak; a spaniel to one side. Another version is at Newton House, Dinefwr attributed to Kneller. John Lovelace, 2nd Baron Lovelace of Hurley (1616-1670) was the son of Richard Lovelace, 1st Baron Lovelace of Hurley. He married Anne Wentworth, Baroness Wentworth, daughter of Thomas Wentworth, 1st and last Earl of Cleveland and Anne Croftes, on 11 July 1638. He died on 14 November 1670 They had two children: 1.John Lovelace, 3rd Baron Lovelace of Hurley (1640-1693) and 2 The Hon Margaret Lovelace (c.1644-1671) married Sir William Noel, Bt.. from whom descended Susanna Maria Noel, wife of Thomas Hill and mother of the 1st Lord Berwick.
