A three-quarter-length portrait of an unknkown Flemish woman, standing, turned slightly to the left, facing the viewer, dressed in a black surcoat with a white-and-gold embroidered bodice, white ruff, and white trimmings at the wrist. A gold chatelaine is around her waist, the end of which is held in her left hand, while her right hand rests on the arm of a red-and-gold upholstered chair to the left.
