Shipwreck in the Adriatic. The motorsailer Enrico Toti on his way to Torviscosa (Udine) with a load of wood, was surprised off the coast of Grado by a violent fortunale. The small ship, driven by the waves and the wind, soon found itself in difficulty. Three crewmen abandoned it and swam to the islet of San Pietro d'Orio, a few miles away. Captain Nazario Boscolo, who remained alone on board, so as not to be swept by the waves, tied himself to the aft mast. Then at dawn, clinging to a wreck, he could go ashore.
