Friedrichshafen, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany Three-engine flying boat Dornier DO 24 floating on the Bodensee near Friedrichshafen. The DO 24 was actually built for the Netherlands who wanted it for recon operations in East India. During the Second World War and until the 1970s it was used by the German Navy for rescue operations at sea. A modified and updated version, the DO 24 ATT is still in use for rescue opartions at sea today.
