Le Duc d'Orléans

He was a successful military leader, and popular with the public because of his liberal political vews. He was killed after being thrown from a light carriage, ending the hopes of the Orléans dynasty after the abdication of Louis-Philippe and the establishment of the short-lived Second Republic of 1848.
