Image description

La Maison du Peuple, 39-41 boulevard du General Leclerc in Clichy la Garenne (Hauts de Seine). Conceived in 1935, and carried out from 1937 to 1939 by a team of architects Eugene Beaudouin and Marcel Lods, builder Jean Prouvé and engineer Vladimir Bodiansky. In addition to the House of the People, the complex includes a march, and offices for local societies and trade unions. On the first floor, the party hall is redivided by a movable partition, leaving room for a smaller cinema room. On the ground floor, the walk is held outdoors, thanks to the movable floor and roof of the party room. These provisions permitting the modification of the internal distribution announced the research carried out after 1950 on multipurpose equipment. The industrialization of production was very advanced. Classed in 1983, this building is the first steel frame building and prefabricated curtain walls to be restored since 1995 by the Historical Monuments Department. Photography 06/04/09.
