On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "In 1863, John Kaye, Tallow Chandler had his business on Prospect Hill; his house being in New Bond St. This house, but actually off New Bond St, and numbered 4 in Seneschal Lane." Additional note: "No 4 Seneschal Lane and Fred Smagg's no 6. These were left over till all that part of the demolition area had disappeared. As noted elsewhere, it was under this house (no 4) that the find of Plantagenet and Tudor gold coins was made in mid last century. Two gold coins, one of Richard III, were found by workmen during the past years, but none in the vicinity of no 4. The finder of the others, was one Mr Kibbin, and what became of it is not known."
