Sorarogha camp in Waziristan, 1920 circa. Photograph by Randolph Bezzant Holmes (1888-1973), North West Frontier, 1920 circa. Sorarogha was located on the west bank of the Tank Zam river in South Waziristan. The plateau surrounding the settlement was used by Major-General Sir Andrew Skeen’s strike force, largely based around 67th Brigade, as a camp and transport depot. The Royal Air Force also established a temporary airfield there. In January 1920 Skeen’s men halted there before advancing further into the Mahsud-held Barari Tangi.
