The Colours of East India Company Regiments followed the same basic design as those of the British Army, but with a lion holding a crown, the crest of the East India Company, above the wreath instead of a monarchial crown. This Colour is of Indian workmanship and shows a remarkable exuberance rarely present in the formal embroidery of a British Colour. The colours of the Union wreath are imaginative and the rose bears a close resemblance to a lotus flower.
