Hugh, 1st Duke of Northumberland (1714-1786), with Mr. Henry Collingwood Selby Both full length, the Duke seated to right, three-quarters left, in pink coat and breeches with a gold satin vest, and wearing the Garter ribbon. His left arm on a scarlet table cloth, his right hand extends a scroll inscribed 'of Middlesex' to Mr Henry Collingwood Selby who stands to left, nearly profile right, his right hand ready to receive the deed. He wears a blue coat with a yellow and blue striped waistcoat. Surrounding the fireplace, in which a fire burns, are tapestry panels by Paul Saunders of Soho, 1758. The interior is that of the Tapestry Room at Northumberland House. 27 1/4ins. by 23ins
